A9 / study completed

The highway A9 cutting through Amstelveen, a village south of Amsterdam, will go partly underground. With the new tunnel, the centre of Amstelveen can be again united and receives new connections, a new territory and new opportunities. In the heart of the city new areas can be developed and Amstelveen is finally able to realize a high quality hub for public transportation - a major challenge for the city.

This study examines four scenarios that provide insight into the range of opportunities for the A9 area. The scenarios are not plans, but serve as inspirations for future visions, namely: metropolitan compact, metropolitan spread, traditionally compact, traditionally spread.
