House SG/ completed

The introduction of natural light was of great importance in this design assignment: a long dark entrance hall was transformed into a light corridor by breaking open a wall above the indoor stairs. With this ‘small’ intervention a visual contact was created from the entrance door via the garden room to the backyard. By breaking open the rear façade and introducing space-high folding doors, suddenly the backyard becomes an extension of the garden room. utilitarian areas such as toilet, storage room and laundry corner were housed in a long cupboard, cladded with custom-made durable bamboo doors. The theme sustainable bamboo is also applied to other floors. on the upper floors the custom-made bookcases are designed from the same material.
